Professionally Cool - 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

I guess people make all sorts of silly inferences after viewing an artist’s work.

Yeah, but you did raise an interesting point and it all ties around a Freudian concept about creative outlets and artist, musicians, inventors, etc. So, in a way, art can be a substitute for "Slam" by Celia Callesocializing and vice versa.

When I am out having fun with friends, I hate drawing and hate the very thought of having to draw. I just don’t want to draw and sincerely don't care to. And when I’m drawing/working/creating and spoken to, I’m completely illiterate and mute. It’s as if English is my third language. I can go for days, weeks, and even months without ever seeing sunlight. In another interview some time ago, I expressed how society has made me an extrovert, although I was definitely an introvert at birth. I've said this back in college, and it still stands firm today: I am outgoing, but not social. Being outgoing, I think people naturally assume I'm social. But their speculations aren’t quite accurate. It's almost like my right-brain and left-brain are in constant rivalry.

I hope it doesn’t escalate to a civil war in your head! That’s very interesting, though. Backtracking a bit, you mentioned that you blame the Internet and the digital world for partially dissolving the film, fashion, and music industries. What about art? As a computer-savvy artist, how do you feel about technology’s role in the art world over the past five or ten years?

Digital is great for those who want to make a quick buck and achieve instant gratification or attention. But it sure sucks for those who want to grab or value an original.

And looking ahead, what would be your ideal medium for visual storytelling and character development on a large scale?

I'll know it when I get to it. I'm the kind of person that hates to plan too far ahead. I don't want to think or talk about it until I can work on it. Today we are seeing many techniques and mediums used in animation and film. I may be “old school” to a certain degree because nothing grabs my soul like "traditional" 2D work. Currently, I have a wide-range of what I want to do. I just need to narrow it down, or else I won't get anything accomplished.

"Motor" by Celia CalleWhat else do you like?

I like black clothing, helmets, belts, boots, guns, and Prada. I'm also interested in good shoes, walking on a fresh bed of snow in winter, pets, and riding on motorcycles with cute boys.

And what chaps your ass?

Hot weather and insects flying in your face.

You’ve been interviewed quite a bit. Is there anything you would like to touch upon that no one ever asks?

Nothing I can think of that is related to my work. You've pretty much capped most of it. [Smiles]
